10 light makeup tips for students

May 10, 2022by Kallos Vietnam

Sometimes, the best makeup for school is a natural, radiant look that doesn't require too much effort. If you're wondering how to cover problem areas while enhancing your features and still looking natural, this article will help you!

Here are 10 tips for beautiful and natural makeup when going to school.

Step 1: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.

Use warm water to create lather with the facial cleanser, then rinse your skin. Makeup applies best when your skin is clean and dry! Wash your face with warm water and a gentle facial cleanser formulated for your skin type.

Then, gently pat your face dry with a soft towel. Avoid harsh cleansers containing alcohol as they can dry out your skin. If you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, use fragrance-free and non-comedogenic products.

Step 1: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.

Step 2: Apply moisturizer with SPF 30.

Moisturizing and protection are key to a radiant and natural makeup look, so use products that give you both! Hydrated skin is the perfect base for natural makeup.

Choose an oil-free, non-comedogenic facial moisturizer and apply a pea-sized amount all over your face. Give your skin about a minute to absorb the product. Look for a product with SPF for comprehensive protection against the sun's rays.

Dermatologists agree that moisturizers are beneficial for all skin types, even oily skin. If you have oily skin, you just need to choose an oil-free product. If you have acne, the sun can worsen your breakouts. Sunscreen will help prevent that.

Step 2: Apply moisturizer with SPF 30.

Step 3: Use foundation.

Use a lightweight foundation if you want to even out your skin tone. Heavy, full-coverage foundations tend to look unnatural and can cause breakouts, so steer clear of those. Lightweight foundations, BB creams, and tinted moisturizers are all great options for a pretty, natural look.

Use your fingers or a foundation brush to apply a thin layer of product all over your face, starting from the center of your face and blending outwards to your cheeks, forehead, and chin. Choose a product that matches your skin tone for an even complexion.

Combine liquid and cream formulas as they look more natural than powder foundations. If you're using your fingers, don't forget to wash your hands first, especially if you have acne-prone skin.

Step 3: Use foundation.

Step 4: Conceal with a touch of concealer.

A little concealer can cover imperfections like pimples. Choose a concealer that matches your skin tone and use a fine eyeshadow brush to dab a small amount onto any blemishes or pimples you have.

Then, use a small makeup brush to lightly blend around those areas so the concealer melts into your skin. Using too much concealer tends to make your face look unnatural, so you should only use it on problem areas.

Step 4: Conceal with a touch of concealer.

Step 5: Set your foundation with powder.

Use a fluffy brush to apply a light layer of powder to your face if you have oily skin. Use setting powder that matches your skin tone or use a translucent matte setting powder. Use a fluffy kabuki brush to lightly dust powder all over your face. This will help lock in your foundation and eliminate shiny areas.

You can skip setting powder if you don't have oily skin, as a lightweight foundation is enough to create a great natural base. Powder never looks as natural on the skin as liquid or cream formulas. Use setting powder if you want a more matte finish.

Step 5: Set your foundation with powder.

Step 6: Apply blush.

Cream blush is easy to blend and makes your makeup look truly natural. Choose a pink or peach shade and use your fingertips or a blush brush to smooth it on. Use circular motions to blend the blush towards your hairline for a soft, healthy flush.

To find your cheekbones, look in the mirror and smile. The apples of your cheeks are the part of your cheeks that rise under your eyes when you smile. Cream blush will make makeup look more natural than powder blush. To look as natural as possible, you can find a blush color similar to the flush of your cheeks after exercise.

Step 6: Apply blush.

Step 7: Curl your eyelashes and apply mascara.

This will make your lashes look longer and open up your eyes more. For a super subtle look, curl your eyelashes and skip mascara.

If you want to enhance your lashes a little more, apply just 1-2 light coats of mascara to your upper lashes. If you have blonde or red hair, use brown mascara as black can look a bit harsh and unnatural. If you have brown or black hair, use black mascara.

Step 7: Curl your eyelashes and apply mascara.

Step 8: Fill in sparse eyebrows with powder or eyebrow pencil.

Use eyebrow products that are close to your natural hair color. If your eyebrows are a bit sparse or very fair, eyebrow powder or pencil can help them look more defined. Start by brushing both eyebrows upwards with a clean spoolie brush.

Then, use light strokes to fill in sparse areas with an eyebrow pencil or powder. Run the spoolie through each eyebrow again to blend the makeup. Teenagers often have thick and healthy eyebrows, so you might not need this step.

Step 8: Fill in sparse eyebrows with powder or eyebrow pencil.

Step 9: Apply lip balm or lip gloss.

Use pink lip gloss or a nude shade for a hint of color. Plump lips look great, so a little lip balm might be all you need to complete your look. To add a little shine to your lips, you can apply a layer of clear lip gloss or leave your natural lip color.

Pink lipstick is also a great option to add a touch of color to your lips without looking unnatural. Avoid overly dark lip colors as they tend to look quite aging. Also, stay away from matte lipsticks as they dry out very quickly.

Step 9: Apply lip balm or lip gloss.

Step 10: Use oil-free makeup remover at night.

Going to bed without removing makeup can cause breakouts and clogged pores. Always remember to remove your makeup in the evening before going to bed. Simply soak a cotton pad with oil-free makeup remover and gently wipe it all over your face to remove most of the makeup. Then, use a gentle facial cleanser to wash away any remaining dirt and residue.

Step 10: Use oil-free makeup remover at night.
